Please consider standing for the AISB board.
Get to know your child’s school, be involved in the continued development and governance of AISB.

Composition of the AISB Board

  • The AISB Board is comprised of 4 US passport holders and 3 non-US passport holders (though this may vary if there are insufficient candidates from either of these groups).
  • In addition, the Director and a US ambassador’s representative are non-voting ex-officio members.
  • Terms are for one or two years - candidates nominate their preference.
  • All AISB parents (except employees of the school or their immediate family) are eligible to run for the board.

The major responsibilities of the Board of Directors are as follows:
a. Oversee the operation of the school for the education of eligible children and/or, as circumstances permit, a supplementary instruction program to augment the program of any other school(s) in which children may be enrolled.
b. Select and employ competent administrative and educational personnel to develop and conduct the necessary educational programs.
c. Develop and adopt policies for the effective management of the educational programs and school facilities.
d. Manage funds received through tuition, student fees, grants, gifts, and other sources for the implementation of the educational programs and maintenance/development of the school facilities.”
Taken from the AISB Policy Manual

Time commitment involved: Monthly board meetings and committee meetings about once a month.

If you are interested or have questions about standing for the Board, or know someone who you would like to nominate, please let Caroline Jacoby know or complete a nomination form.
